TIPS AND TRICKS
For a professional angler, braided fishing line is one of the most crucial components of the
gear. Each of us, after all, often dedicates a significant part of our lives to pursuing our
passion, chasing after the dream of catching a record-breaking fish. The thrill and adrenaline
rush, an inseparable part of reeling in a catch, drive us to keep coming back to the water as
often as possible. The mission of Mahi Mahi Superior, a brand born out of a passion for
fishing, is to bring you smiles. We care about contributing to your exceptional experiences,
especially those truly positive ones. Therefore, we understand how important the reliability of
the braided line is in the least expected moments. And that’s precisely why we provide you
with a product in which we have full confidence.
How to select proper braided line? Mahi Mahi Superior product line-up.
Our product range has been designed with anglers across Europe in mind. Whether you're
fishing for small trout in mountain streams, targeting large freshwater species, or catching
mighty cod and halibut in the cold waters of Norway, we have a specialized product for every
need, though our offering is exceptionally selective. Here are some examples of specific
applications for Mahi Mahi Superior braided lines:
Mahi Mahi X3
We particularly recommend our 3-carieer braided line for ultralight techniques, especially when fishing for trout, perch, or any other smaller predator species. It excels in situations where small lures are used.
Mahi Mahi X4
It's the perfect solution for those who prefer slightly thicker braided lines when targeting relatively smaller fish or for those who don’t shy away from technically challenging fishing spots. It works exceptionally well when fishing for large trout, as well as perch in areas with abundant underwater obstacles or rocks..Mahi Mahi X8
The 8-carieer version features an almost round cross-section and is undoubtedly the #1 choice for zander fishing. However, it can also be successfully used for pike, asp, and sea species such as sea trout, salmon, as well as more exotic fish like tuna, barracuda, or payara.Mahi Mahi X16
This is our most exclusive product, characterized by exceptional strength and a structure that allows it to handle the largest species found in freshwater, seas, and oceans. It’s the top choice among anglers fishing for catfish and those traveling the world in search of record- breaking tuna, GTs, or halibut. How to choose braid diameter?
Mahi Mahi braided lines have been rigorously tested for strength and are accurately labeled.
You'll find the strength rating listed both in kilograms (European standard) and in PE class
(commonly used in Japan and the U.S.). With our braided lines, there's no need to
unnecessarily increase the diameter, which would limit your casting distance or reduce
sensitivity. You choose exactly the described strength and can be confident that the line will
handle the specified load.
The diameter of the braided line is especially important in spinning techniques. The smaller
the diameter, the less resistance the line creates in the water, making it easier to control the
lure. Additionally, a thinner line offers less resistance during casting and is less affected by
wind gusts, which improves both the distance and accuracy of your cast.
Does the color really matter?
There’s a reason we chose white for our braided lines. While it may not look as striking to
anglers as chemically dyed lines, it is virtually invisible to fish underwater. Since white light
occurs naturally, fish are accustomed to this color. Moreover, to a predator observing the
surface, the white color blends in with the backlit water.
Of course, the color of the line does
matter to the angler. Bright colors like yellow or orange are slightly more visible on the
water’s surface, but they are far more "intrusive" when it comes to the natural presentation of
your rig. By opting for the compromise of using white, we also considered an extremely
important factor – avoiding unnecessary chemical dyeing processes. This ensures that the
quality and strength of our line remain unaffected by contact with invisible, water-dissolved
chemicals. This is precisely why our braided lines have become so popular among anglers
fishing in big rivers, where the water clarity is low and the chemicals are most likely present.
Recommended knots:
Because our braided lines have a smooth texture, not every knot will be ideal for use with them. Specifically, those knots that rely on single-point pressure may prove ineffective, potentially slipping under heavier loads. That’s why we’re here to help with recommendations on which knots work exceptionally well with Mahi Mahi braided lines. And don’t worry—they’re not complicated at all.
#1 PALOMAR KNOT
This is one of the simplest yet most effective knots. It exerts multi-point pressure on the braid, securing successive sections of the line within its structure. We particularly recommend it for use with 8- and 16-strand braids. Want to know how to tie the popular Palomar knot? Check out the video below:##2 TRILENE KNOT
Another, slightly more advanced, multi-point knot, particularly recommended for use with 3-, 4-, and 8-strand braids is:#3 ALBRIGHT KNOT – A RIGDER COMBINING BRIDGE AND FLUOROCARBON
How we connect our braid with the fluorocarbon leader is also important. In this case, we recommend the extremely simple but very effective Albright knot:WHO ASKS DOES NOT ERR!
